Helping Nurses Manage their Money

(see also - Flex Mortgages)

MAFCU has the right products and services to help nurses manage their financial lives.  The Credit Union offers opportunities to save through share and club accounts, invest in CDs and money market accounts, take loans at reasonable rates and terms, and have access to a financial planner.

BIDMC Case Manager Kathy Welch, RN, joined MAFCU because she heard from colleagues about the Credit Union's friendly staff and the many products and services it offered. “I was looking around for the best rates on loans, and MAFCU rates were good," she says.

Welch does not consider herself financially savvy, and is impressed with members of the MAFCU staff who take the time to answer any questions she has with clear and useful information. “Mike Shuman (Vice President of Lending) has been phenomenal. One phone call and he can easily explain what I need to know,” she says. She is also impressed with the Credit Union’s Member Services Representatives and Tellers. “All the MAFCU staff are so accommodating and try to help as much as they can.”

She believes with the increase in nursing pay over the years, MAFCU would be a good choice for nurses looking to buy a home or seeking their financial options. “I recommend that nurses today, especially young ones who might be interested in mortgages, check out MAFCU,” she says.

Monica Hynes-Payack, RN, Brigham Internal Medicine Associates, is a long-time MAFCU member, and has had home equity loans with the Credit Union and savings accounts. With one child in college, and another paying off college loans, she wants to make the right financial choices to ensure a secure financial future and retirement.

“I’m at a point in my life where planning for the future is my priority," says Hynes-Payack.  "I have always had a lot of trust in the Credit Union and I look forward to having them help me make good financial decisions.”
