Director of Finance

We are looking for a seasoned financial professional who believes in the credit union philosophy of people helping people, where our focus is on our members.  The Director of Finance reports directly to the CEO, and is a member of the MAFCU leadership team.  This individual will direct the Finance Department in coordination of all accounting and budgeting activities, and will have proven leadership abilities, along with strong financial, managerial, and communication skills.  

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide leadership and guidance of Accounting staff to meet budget and institutional goals
  • Develop, maintain, and reconcile all accounting systems for the production of timely and accurate financial information
  • Design, monitor, and report on financial performance of institution, providing detailed and summarized reports for use by the President, Treasurer, auditors and other outside organizations
  • Coordinate accounting procedures and internal controls so that they will be performed in accordance with all policies, rules, and regulations while following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Oversee all required federal and state financial reporting, and other regulatory filings

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of five to seven years experience and at least five years supervisory experience in a credit union or other financial institution.
  • CPA or Masters Degree in a related field is preferred but not required.

Required Skills:

  • Strong administrative, financial, organizational, managerial and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience in financial forecasting.
  • Ability to project a professional and positive image personally and as a MAFCU representative.
  • Ability to handle complex and confidential matters effectively.
