Community
MAFCU embraces the credit union philosophy of concern for community. MAFCU works collaboratively with members, affiliates, and the surrounding community in a variety of ways — hosting events, participating in MAFCU's affiliate groups' fundraising efforts, and supporting community projects throughout the area.
Blanket Drive
During the month of January, MAFCU will be joining with the Massachusetts Credit Union League to collect new blankets for homeless families. Members can drop off donations at any MAFCU branch anytime during the month. Please donate new blankets only.
Hope Candy Bars
Thanks to our members who purchased Hope Candy Bars to benefit the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. Together with 22 credit unions throughout Massachusetts, we raised nearly $7,000 by selling more than 380 cases of candy bars.
MAFCU Staff Donated $2,500 to Western Massachusetts Tornado Relief
MAFCU staff donated $2,500 to the Red Cross of Pioneer Valley to help those affected by the Springfield, MA, tornadoes that occurred earlier this year.
The money was raised through our casual dress fundraiser. Whenever a member of our staff dresses casually, he or she contributes personal funds into an account. Past donations have gone to Mercy Corps, Greater Boston Sickle Cell Disease Association, Jeffrey Modell Foundation, and Partners In Health.
Walk Home
Walk Home, our benefit walk for the homeless on Saturday, June 18, in Dorchester Park, raised more than $22,000.
Featured speakers at the walk included State Representative Linda Dorcena Forry; Dan Egan, President of the Massachusetts Credit Union League; and Nicole James, President and Chief Executive Officer of MAFCU.
Proceeds from Walk Home went to Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless and Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, both MAFCU affiiate groups.
