MAFCU in the Community

MAFCU embraces the credit union philosophy of concern for community. MAFCU works collaboratively with members, affiliates, and the surrounding community in a variety of ways — hosting events, participating in MAFCU's affiliate groups' fundraising efforts, and supporting community projects throughout the area.

One Size Fits All--Donate Socks to Help the Homeless

Annual Sock Drive for the Homeless

MAFCU members can help prevent the spread of infection in homeless men and women by donating clean socks and toiletries during the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program's annual Sock Drive.  A box is set up in the Credit Union's main branch at 365 Boylston Street in Brookline to collect socks, shower shoes, toiletries, and underwear that are greatly needed to help support this vulnerable population.  MAFCU participates in the drive each year.

MAFCU Contributes $6,100 to Haitian Relief Efforts

MAFCU Federal Credit Union has made a $6,100 contribution to Partners in Health (PIH) toward relief efforts in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in January. Partners in Health, a Brigham and Women's Hospital-affiliated medical organization has provided medical care in Haiti for more than twenty years. Brigham and Women's Hospital is MAFCU's largest affiliate. The funds were accumulated through a combination of donations and matching donations from MAFCU, MAFCU affiliate Prime Motor Group, MAFCU employees, and Vargas & Vargas Insurance Agency Inc.

MAFCU made a donation of $2,500, and MAFCU affiliate Prime Motor Group gave a $2,500 matching donation. MAFCU raised an additional $550 through a MAFCU staff Casual Dress fundraiser, with a matching donation of $550 from Vargas & Vargas Insurance Agency Inc.

In support of Haitian members, the Credit Union is available as a financial resource to assist them as they try to meet the needs of their families in Haiti. MAFCU continues to work individually with members and with groups of employees at Brigham and Women's Hospital.  If you wish to apply for a loan, please call our Loan Department at 617-278-5600 and press 2, or apply here.
