Help for Japan
The Credit Union is offering special programs to support MAFCU members with family ties to Japan or who will be traveling to Japan to help in medical or technical relief efforts.
- Members traveling to Japan or who would like to help their families or friends in Japan can get a special low-interest loan with varying terms ranging from 12 to 24 months. These loans are at 4%, a deeply discounted rate from regular rates that range from 9.5% to 15.5% as determined by credit score for personal loans.
- The Credit Union temporarily is waiving fees on wire transfers to Japan.
- MAFCU is available to offer workplace financial information for individuals or groups of employees or staff who may need financial counseling.
MAFCU Visa credit cardholders who are traveling to Japan are reminded that the Credit Union does not charge an additional foreign transaction fee.
The Credit Union will be donating a total of $5,000 to relief efforts in Japan.
