Medical Area Federal Credit Union (MAFCU) is committed to making available financial products and services that will enable you to meet your financial goals. Protecting personal information and using it in a manner consistent with your expectations is a high priority for everyone associated with the Credit Union.

As a member of MAFCU, you also have a responsibility to safeguard your financial information. To ensure that you can rely upon the quality of products and services we make available, MAFCU stands behind the following privacy policy.

MAFCU receives nonpublic information about you from the following sources:

  • Information furnished by you on applications or other forms
  • Information about your transactions with us or others
  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency
  • E-mail and electronic information sources

MAFCU does not disclose non-public information except to provide you with services you request or with information about additional credit union products and services. The following are examples of the types of businesses to whom we may provide information:

  • Financial services providers, such as companies providing mortgages, securities, financial planning, credit card or insurance services.
  • Non-financial companies such as consumer reporting agencies, merchants, data processors, check or other printers, retailers, plastic card processors and government agencies.

We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements.

In addition, we may disclose nonpublic information as permitted or required by law such as when we receive a court order or subpoena. We will apply the same privacy policies even if you decide to terminate your membership or become an inactive member.

MAFCU will protect your personal information. We will maintain strong security controls to ensure that member information in our files and computers is protected. Where appropriate, MAFCU will use security-coding techniques to protect against unauthorized access to personal records, ensure accuracy and integrity of communications and transactions, and protect member confidentiality. We restrict access of your nonpublic personal information to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you.

As a member of MAFCU, you will always have access to your information and you will always have the opportunity to review your information and make necessary changes to ensure that our records are complete and accurate. MAFCU will share information only when absolutely necessary. We will share information only to administer the products and services we provide, when required to do so by the government, or when we partner with other businesses to offer a broader array of products and services.

MAFCU will partner only with businesses that follow strict confidentiality requirements regarding the use of information we may provide. We do not permit these companies to give your information to others. We also restrict their ability to contact you for mail solicitations.
